MUSIC mogul Louis Walsh is aiming for the top with Shane Filan, insisting the former Westlifer will be the biggest male singer to come out of Ireland.

Mayo man Louis — who managed Shane in Westlife and now manages his solo career — has claimed he’ll be an
international hit when he releases his debut solo album later this year.

Louis (60) said: “He’s going to be huge. He signed an amazing deal, he’s co-written his songs — he’s going to be a big star.

“I predict that Shane will be the biggest male pop star to come out of Ireland — and I mean that.”

X Factor judge Louis negotiated a four-album deal with London Records.

Shane’s first album, which was recorded in Nashville and London, is already near completion, with the star’s team excited about the results.

Wife Gillian tweeted yesterday: “Chillin in the USA listening to @ShaneFilan new album! So excited!”

Asked if their three children had heard the songs, she replied: “Yes! They’ve picked their favourites!”

It’s good news for Shane (33) after his financial woes, which saw him declared bankrupt last year, just days before  Westlife split.

But Louis said his money woes have offered Sligo-born Shane a new perspective.

“I think it’s been a good reality check,” he said.

“He’s got his voice, he’s got his kids, he’s got his health — they’re more important than money.”

But Louis admitted that he misses managing Westlife — also consisting of Nicky Byrne (34), Mark Feehily (32) and Kian Egan (32).

He said: “I’ll never have another band like that. They’re great guys and great role models.”
