SINGER Shane Filan's debut solo album has reached the number one spot on the iTunes chart in Ireland and UK.

The former Westlife star released his EP 'Everything To Me' yesterday and within hours it claimed poll position.

A compilation album by various artists, 'Now That's What I Call Music 85' took second, while Kodaline's 'In a Perfect World' secured the third spot in the Irish charts.

Filan, who declared himself bankrupt in 2012 with debts of €23m and was discharged in the UK in June, thanked his fans for their support.

The Sligo native's former bandmates, Nicky Byrne and Mark Feehily, were among those to download the album, which Filan co-wrote over the past 18 months.

The 34-year-old, who is now based in Surrey with his wife Gillian and three children, is currently on a promotional tour.
